SMART INTER-CLUB FUTBOL MINDANAO FINALS

Romgarjal, M’lang win Mindanao finals
 
 
DAVAO CITY – The Romgarjal Football Club of Zamboanga del Norte-Dipolog Football Association only needed a 1-all draw with host Hooligans FC to rule the Mindanao Finals of the Philippine Football Federation-SMART National Club Championship which ended Sunday at the Tionko field here.
Michael Jay Fernandez scored first for the Hooligans (which needed to win by at least three goals) in the 79th minute but Sergio Alexis Pelleria tied the game in the extended 92nd.
Romgarjal, which topped the 3-day league with a 2-1-0 win-draw-loss card for a total of 7 points and North Cotabato's M'lang FC (2-0-1) will both advance into the Round of 16 (quarterfinals) together with the two teams each from the Visayas and Luzon and the 10 teams from the ongoing United Football League in the National Capital Region.
Romgarjal also beat M'lang, 4-1 last Nov. 24 but M'lang defeated the Hooligans, 3-1 in the opening day.
Romgarjal, which is representing Western Mindanao, first won by a default over the Advocates FC of Iligan-Lanao del Norte FA (Northern Mindanao, which backed out in the last minute.
Renando Mantua Jr. converted two goals in the 14th and 57th while the other scorers against M’lang were John Lloyd  Bastasa (32’) and Ryan Buenaflor (63’).
M’lang earlier whipped the Hooligans, 3-1 last Nov. 23. LITO DELOS REYES
