DAVAO CITY -- The Bee Happy team routed Sakya Dragonites, 11-0 last Sunday to formally bag the third place in the 9th Acosta Cup Ladies Open football tournament at the Tionko grounds.
The championship game between Philippine Women’s College and DDS will be played on December 9 at 8 a.m. at the same venue. The awarding of trophies will immediately follow.
SOS-Instatech settled for fourth place followed by Ateneo Blue Knights and Sakya as fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Joy Rivera scored four goals for Bee Happy including the ice breaker in the 10th minute. Merlo Albano added two markers in the 27th and 37th while other scorers were Sheinna Chaves (21’), Nina Yanto (29’), Annika Ong (41’), Princess Cuabo (43’) and Mary Joy Indac (58’)
PWC earlier beat Bee Happy, 3-0 last Nov. 30 to advance in the finals. The goals were courtesy of June Mae Bunac (59’) , Cherry Mae Vilchez (61’) and Sanaa Jikiri (71’)
DDS, on the other hand, blanked SOS-Instatech, 4-0 last December 1. Kristel Dureza twice found the net in the 2nd and 38th while Analou Ingles (36’) and Leonor Satorre (62’) each converted a goal also for the veteran squad.
SOS-Instatech, however, bounced back with a 6-3 win over Ateneo Blue Knights on the following day. Keith Canton led with five goals while Joy Semacio added one in the 75th. Ateneo’s scorers were Patricia Francisco (45’), Alyssa Marie Ang (65’) and Janna Barcemo (78’).
Ateneo, earlier demolished Sakya, 5-0 last Dec. 1 with two goals from Inah Rosales (47’, 50’) and one goal each from Janna Barcemo (10’), Ang (54’) and Johannah Marie Adao (76’). (LDR with a report from Ching delos Reyes)
