Columbia FC wins Premier League


 
DAVAO CITY -- Columbia Football Club edged Hooligans FC, 2-1 to formally clinch the crown in the Philippine Sports Commission-Davao Football Association (PSC-DFA) Premier League (First Division) last Sunday at the Tionko grounds.
Abdul Salam Mamadali scored the winning goal in the 56th as the Abing Lim-mentored Columbia eleven made its fourth win against one draw and no loss in the second and final round.
Datu Von Biruar first gave Columbia a 1-0 lead in the 14th but Allan Rey Fernandez tied it in the 27th minute.
Columbia, which earned a total of 13 points in the team standings after the second round, was awarded a P10,000 cash with a trophy and medals by DFA president Edward ‘Chaya’ Lam and Board Member Reginald Ozims.
Columbia, managed by Lam, was also composed of skipper Edwin Giganto Jr., Al Dinn Tiboron, Noel Teves, Nur Metang, Michael Pantojan, Jawal Petalcorin, Imardino Polo, Abel Saldana, Stephen Anutado, Khadaffy Biruar, Csaraian Cabaingan, Clifford Dacera, Jaypee Diamante, Ronoel Garfin, Ernesto Giganto Jr., Francisco Iligan, Randy Josef Inguillo, Nash Maani, Abdul Salam Mamadali and playing assistant coach Aaron Bantayan.
Medvil FC owned by Rafael Vilela settled for first runner-up and won P5K with medals despite losing to the Henry Sabate-managed KMMPC, 3-6 also last Sunday.
Medvil mentored by Ramonito Carreon got the better goal difference +9 for a total of 10 points against the Christian Ea-coached KMMPC with +8 or 9 points, which took the second runner-up honors and went home with P2,000 cash with medals. LDR
