PNP beats KMMPC, draws Hooligans

THE Philippine National Police Football Club scored a win and a draw in just one day to improve their standings in the final round of the Philippine Sports Commission-Davao Football Association Premier League (First Division) at the Tionko grounds Sunday.
PNP first beat KMMPC, 4-3 then settled a 3-all draw with the Hooligans FC to take third place in the team standings with a total of four wins, two draws and four losses.
Manuel Aspellega gave PNP a 4-2 lead in the 69th minute before Peter Gaciano scored for KMMPC in the 70th. PNP earlier enjoyed a 2-0 advantage from back-to-back goals of James Elliot (24’) and Bern Manique (29’).  Garciano then cut KMMPC’s deficit, 1-2 in the 36th before Noel Flores joined the scoring club three minutes later to widen PNP’s lead, 3-1. Warren Ravanes, 15, added one more marker for KMMPC in the 50th, 3-2.
In their second match, Manique scored two goals (41’ & 73’) and Aspellega (65’) added one for a 3-1 advantage over the Hooligans, who earlier took a 1-0 lead courtesy of Ruelfred Napuran (24’).
But the exhausted PNP squad lost already their defensive stance that allowed the Hooligans to score back from Napuran (83’) and Demapanag (89’).
PNP previously bowed to Medvil, 1-2 last Friday that also saw league leader and virtual champion Columbia Computer Center whipping the Blue Knights, 4-1 for its 8th straight victory against one draw and no loss.
KMMPC nipped Hooligans, 3-2 also last Nov. 30 for its fourth straight win against five setbacks to take the fourth spot behind Medvil (6-2-1).
They are followed by the Hooligans (3-1-6) and winless Blue Knights (0-0-9) as fifth and sixth place, respectively.
PNP will play its final game against the Blue Knights on December 9 at 2:30 p.m. at Field B while the other matches pit KMMPC against Medvil at 1 p.m. and Columbia versus Hooligans at 3 p.m.
DFA president Edward "Chaya" Lam said it will be followed by the awarding of cash prizes and the trophy. PSC Executive Director Guillermo Iroy Jr. is the invited guest of honor.
